The challenge

Play+ started out as a video-course platform, but the business needed to turn it into something more versatile and scalable, able to serve everything from education to entertainment. The challenge was building an ecosystem where courses, video blogs, and streaming could coexist in a single, fluid experience, all delivered through a whitelabel model: easy to customize for different brands and projects without losing implementation speed.

The process

1. Scalable, whitelabel architecture: I structured the product to allow fast customization of visual identity (colors, logo, icons, typography, and components) and to support different business models, like subscriptions, freemium, one-off purchases, and bundles.
2. A complete user experience: I designed a responsive web interface and a dedicated mobile app, with a modern player (downloads, favorites, advanced controls, adaptive quality) and an integrated digital wallet for managing subscriptions.
3. A practical, customizable design system: I built a documented component library designed to support different themes without redesigning the platform for every new brand.
4. Efficient backoffice management: a robust admin panel for content registration and organization, plan control, subscription reports, and consumption metrics.

Results

• Faster implementation: new projects go live in weeks, with quick visual identity customization.
• Proven scalability: the same base supports both educational and entertainment scenarios, giving rise to Play Prime.
• Stronger user experience: smooth navigation, a reliable player, and multiple access options increased engagement.
• Autonomy for client brands: the backoffice gave full operational control, reducing technical dependency.

What I learned

Designing a whitelabel base taught me to clearly separate what's foundation, what doesn't change between brands, from what's surface, what each client can customize, without stalling the product's evolution or slowing down delivery on new projects.
